Adaptive milling test on C45 steel with POLCOMM tooling
The setup
Shared by POLCOMM together with Premium Solutions Polska — a video comparing adaptive milling in ENCY CAD/CAM software against a classical parallel strategy. Cuts are performed on a HAAS UMC-1000SS 5-axis machining center in C45 steel, using the POLCOMM FFPA 202 Ø16 Z4 solid carbide end mill.
Why adaptive matters
As seen in the side-by-side shots, ENCY keeps tool engagement constant while removing material, so feed rate and chip load stay stable through the whole pocket. The parallel strategy loads the cutter unevenly and forces more air-cut moves.
Result
Shorter cutting time and cooler operation at the same feed, with the FFPA 202 running well within its recommended range — a compact demonstration of what CAM strategy and tool geometry can do together on a common steel grade.
