Custom orthotic milling at Orteam — CNC Solutions cell programmed in ENCY

Plaster molds → robotic milling. Orteam, a Belgian orthopedic manufacturer, replaced its manual plaster casting for custom orthotics with a robotic milling cell built by CNC Solutions and programmed in ENCY CAD/CAM software. The old workflow was slow; outsourcing had been ruled out on quality grounds.

PU foam and MDF, milled to spec. A practitioner scans the patient, the 3D design is developed in ENCY, and the program goes straight to the robot. Eight blanks sit on a conveyor and are picked, milled, and returned by the arm — no operator on the line. "Every design is milled exactly as we drew it digitally," says Pomarin Phonsavatdi, Orteam's CAD/CAM manager.

FTE saved, ROI in 3–4 years. With the plaster stage gone, Orteam saves 2–3 full-time-equivalents and the investment paid off inside 3–4 years. The cell pairs a Stäubli robot with a Beckhoff controller, ENCY handling toolpaths across the mixed hardware.
