Hyundai robot cuts a Voronoi-pattern stainless-steel sphere with fibre laser

Robotic laser cutting on a curved mirror surface. A Hyundai 6-axis robot cuts an intricate Voronoi-style perforation into a polished stainless-steel sphere with a fibre laser head. Every cell edge sits on a compound-curved surface, so the toolpath must keep the beam normal to the workpiece throughout the pattern.

5–6D toolpaths programmed and simulated offline. The pattern is generated and verified inside ENCY CAD/CAM software — the robotic CAM stack shown in the reel with approach vectors visualised over the dome. Kinematics, singularities and collisions are resolved before the cell touches the material, and the operator moves from CAD geometry to a validated robot program in one environment.
