MTA delivers KUKA robot cell for EPS foam milling to Australian film studio

Robotic EPS foam milling for film production
Polish integrator MTA (Budowa i relokacje maszyn) shared a project delivered to a customer in Australia — a robotic cell for machining expanded polystyrene blocks used in film production, where repeatable precision and quick turnaround on custom scenery forms are essential.

KUKA robot with HITECO electrospindle
The cell pairs a KUKA six-axis robot with a rotary positioner and a HITECO electrospindle. A custom hot-wire end-effector handles rough shaping before the spindle takes over for detail passes. A SIEMENS S7-1200 orchestrates the process and PIZZATO safety components cover cell interlocks.

ENCY toolpaths for robotic machining
Toolpath generation for the whole workflow runs in ENCY CAD/CAM software — machine-aware toolpath calculation, kinematics management and simulation of the full robotic cell. Thanks to MTA for sharing the project.
