Mazda RX7 Wankel intake manifolds 5-axis milled by Zoqdi Racing

Rotary racing, in-house. Zoqdi Racing designs and machines every custom part for its rotary builds in-house. The Mazda RX7 Wankel intake manifolds — polished aluminium runners with a radial plenum — were drawn, programmed and cut by the Zoqdi team, programmed in ENCY CAD/CAM software for 5-axis milling.

Why 5-axis for a Wankel manifold. Rotary intakes live on compound curves: trumpets clear the apex-seal geometry and runner centrelines never share one plane. 3-axis setups mean multiple fixtures and seams where the plenum meets the runners. In ENCY the whole part is programmed in one setup with simultaneous toolpaths, so flange faces, injector seats and runner internals come off the machine ready to assemble.

Design to road, under one roof. The video shows the manifolds fresh out of the spindle, aluminium swarf still on the fixture. Next stop the dyno — then the road.
