Thanks to StoneyCNC for sharing hands-on machining insights from their workflow.
Machining Process
The images and video showcase a vertical CNC milling machine creating rectangular pockets and circular holes in an aluminum block. Using an 8mm, 4-flute end mill at 24,000 RPM and 1,200 mm/min feed, the cutter—under steady green coolant—forms sharp-edged cavities while aluminum swarf collects around the workpiece.
Application in Industry
This operation demonstrates 2.5x and 3x milling processes commonly used in woodworking and job shop environments. The use of chamfering on component edges provides a clean, rounded finish, supporting precise assembly and handling requirements.
Software in Operation
All toolpaths and machining strategies are created and executed with ENCY CAD/CAM software, enabling efficient workflow setup and reliable aluminum milling results.
